Ruth Langsford has shared the heartbreaking way she had to greet her mum on Mother's Day. The presenter had no choice but to give her mum a kiss through the window as the elderly have been advised to self-isolate for 12 weeks at home.

Ruth posted the super sweet moment on Instagram to her thousands of followers as she told them she hadn't forgotten about her mother on such a special day.

This Morning star Ruth, 60, said to her mum Joan: "Gis' a kiss... happy Mother's Day." In a heartbreaking sequence, the This Morning star then tapped her hand on the window to get her mum's attention.

Ruth and Joan touched hands through the glass as they gazed longingly at each other. Ruth said: "It is odd, isn't it?" as her mum nodded.
