Filming for the new Avatar sequels has been forced to shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. James Cameron’s long-awaited follow up to the 2009 box-office smash has been suspended, potentially delaying its release date.
Cameron had planned to shoot at Stone Street Studios in Wellington, New Zealand next month. But producer Jon Landau has confirmed the sad news that filming has been delayed indefinitely, and his team will continue in Los Angeles for the time being.
Avatar became the highest-grossing movie of all time when it first hit cinemas more than a decade ago. However the film’s sequels have been hit by delay after delay.
