Premier League players whose contracts expire on June 30 could be able to to sign week-by-week deals should the football season extend beyond that date.
It is believed the FA and FIFA would grant special dispensation for short-term rolling contracts due to the unprecedented situation brought about by the coronavirus outbreak.
Most teams still have nine games of the season to play, but with the league suspended until at least April 3 it could feasibly be mid-June before the competition can conclude.
