Coronavirus: Food banks face "uncertain future" due to killer bug

Life-saving food banks face an “uncertain future” in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, says the head of Britain's biggest food bank charity.

Emma Revie, Chief Executive of the Trussell Trust, warned that Brits living in poverty face an “unprecedented challenge” as the COVID-19 outbreak leads to empty supermarkets and stockpiling.

A spokesperson for the trust, which has 428 food banks in its network, told  Mirror.co.uk  that while food banks will continue to provide the lifeline of emergency food - “what this could look like in the coming weeks is hard for us to say at this stage”.
