Carrie Symonds has joined calls for a worldwide ban on the sale of wildlife which may have provided the ideal situation for Covid-19 to jump to humans.

Boris Johnson's fiancee has signed a petition calling for a worldwide ban on the markets where animals caught in the wild are often sold for consumption.

Writing on Twitter, Ms Symonds, who is a longtime animal rights activist and is expecting her first child early this summer, said the current coronavirus outbreak was "a chance to start doing things better".
