Coronation Street star Sydney Martin has been flooded with support as she shared the shocking reaction to her role in the long-running show.

The actress, from Rossendale, made her debut in the ITV soap last year as Betsy Swain. Back in July, the character was revealed as the previously unseen daughter of DS Lisa Swain having initially been introduced as a friend of Sabrina Adetiba.

The character has since managed to ruffle feathers in Weatherfield, getting involved with groomer Joel Deering and school bully Mason Radcliffe.

But it appers Betsy may be willing to turn things around, particularly after the loss of Mason after he was stabbed to death by his own brothers while trying to turn his life around.
