Rowan first met Leanne by chance at a hotel where he had been giving a seminar. Leanne was completely taken in by Rowan, not realising he actually is part of a cult. “Rowan is high up at the Altervalant Institute,” explained Emrhys. “His main role at Altervalant is recruitment.
He travels all over to present conferences and seminars, identifying the more ‘receptive’ people and encouraging them into the fold.
Once he’s done that, he schools them on how to recruit others.” And Emrhys reveals that his character’s job is, sadly, “art imitating life”.
