Coronation Street star Joe Layton has addressed the twist shocking viewers about his new character on the cobbles. The actor has officially joined the ITV soap as Mick Michaelis.

Mick and his wife Lou, played by Farrel Hegarty, are part of a new family set to shake-up the cobbles as they've been described as 'nightmare neighbours' who are willing to make life hell for anyone who dares to cross them.

Mick first appeared in Weatherfield during Friday night's (February 14) episode of the ITV soap and come after Lou made her first appearance earlier in the week.

During Lou's first appearance on the Street, she didn't hold back as she was seen giving Aadi Alahan grief over a purchase in the shop.
