Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd mocked by his co-stars over unusual new hobby

Jack P.Shepherd, 34, caught up with Coronation Street co-stars Colson Smith, 23, and Ben Price, 49, after his recent birthday, admitting that one of his gifts had sparked an unexpected new hobby.Speaking on the Sofa Cinema Club podcast, the soap actor opened up his friends’ eyes to the wonders of mudlarking.The Sofa Cinema Club sees the Corrie friends sit down together to watch a film chosen by one of the trio, before they head off to the studio to discuss what they loved and hated about the selection.However, during the podcast Jack was keen to share his new obsession with his pals after an intriguing birthday present from his mum.

In the latest episode, Jack opened up about a couple of the gifts he received for his recent birthday, which included a pair of slippers from his sister and a book on mudlarking from his mum.Mudlarking is a quirky riverside activity that sees people combing city riverbeds for lost treasures - a hobby that more and more people are taking up thanks to social media.Speaking about his trendy new hobby, Jack said: “Mudlarking is when you go on beaches and coastal areas and you look for stuff that’s on the ground. “You’re not allowed to dig, you have to look with your eyes, you’re not allowed to move things - that’s mudlarking. “Anything you see that’s more than a few centimetres deep, you’re allowed to take.”Jack went on to chat about the mudlarking expert who had inspired him on social media. “There’s this guy that I follow on Instagram, you can search for him, he’s called Jason Mudlark,” he said.“This guy lives in London, he goes on the Thames and he finds stuff on the riverbanks of the Thames and he shows you what he’s found.
