Coronation Street's Beverley Callard reflects on 30 years of cobbles life as she moves on

As she pulled back the pump, the golden Newton and Ridley beer started flowing – the ­makings of a perfect pint for the waiting customer.

That is until the beer kept flowing... and flowing... and flowing. “All the beer ran into my boots,” laughs Beverley Callard, recalling one of her first moments on Coronation Street . “One of the first pints I poured in the Rovers, I couldn’t stop it.” While it might not have been the most auspicious start to her time on Corrie – originally only planned to be for a year – it certainly did no harm as the star is still on the cobbles three decades later.

Much-loved Liz McDonald has become a Weatherfield stalwart and Beverley can scarcely believe it. “It’s mind-blowing to be here 30 years on.
