Coronation Street has confirmed what happens next after Joel Deering's death in Weatherfield's 'biggest-ever whodunnit'. The solictior went missing at the end of last month as his horrific crimes were set to come to light.

As viewers of the ITV soap know, it was assumed Joel had taken his own life after he was set to face court for some of his evil crimes.

Earlier this year it was revealed that he was Lauren Bolton's 'secret boyfriend' and was behind her disappearance and presumed murder after he was seen attacking her with a chair leg.

Luckily, the teen survived and returned to Weatherfield over the summer. However, she was quickly confronted by Joel and through flashbacks, fans discovered what really happened between the pair - showing Joel had groomed Lauren, giving her money in return for sex.
