Police are probing an "unexplained" death in the Scottish Borders, after the body of a woman was discovered in a flat. Officers arrived at a flat in Eildon Crescent in Melrose on Wednesday afternoon, and there has been a large police presence in the area since.
Police Scotland said death of a 49-year-old woman was being treated as unexplained, and a post mortem would be carried out in due course.
Police said there will be a "significant" police presence at the flat, which is beside a children's play park, as detectives carry out further investigations.A spokesperson said: “Around 3pm on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, police received a report a 49-year-old woman had died within a house in Eildon Crescent in Melrose."The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
