Just as the weather is getting warmer, so too is celebs’ hair colour of choice, and it feels like half of Hollywood is having a copper haired moment right now.
Everyone from Kendall Jenner to Euphoria’s Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney is currently experimenting with reddish, coppery tones – and Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor and Nicola Coughlan will soon be back on our screens sporting their characters’ signature renaissance red shades. "The right red can be enormously flattering," says Nicola Clarke, creative colour director for John Frieda Salons, which has just launched its Perfect Red Colour Service. "I might use a soft colour glaze, rich deep pigment or multi-dimensional tones to create the perfect colour to enhance someone's skin tone – no two clients will be the same." Coppery tones are clearly the flavour of the month though as, according to WeThrift, searches for “bright copper hair” have increased by more than 600% since the start of the year.
So, what do you need to know about perfecting the look for yourself? How to nail the copper hair trend “Whether you want to go Kendall copper or copy Zendaya’s stunning honey blonde look, there are several things to keep in mind if you want to effortlessly step into your spring locks," says Nick Drewe, hair trends specialist at WeThrift. “The first thing to do is to consult your stylist before making any drastic hair changes.
When discussing your requirements, make it clear to your stylist the particular style you’re looking for, and ask what shades they would recommend.” If you have light hair, you also have the option of experimenting with temporary copper colour using something like BLEACH London Copper Toner, £9 here, which deposits warm colour into already-bleached hair.
