Construction under way on new Airdrie housing development

Construction work has started on a new sustainable development of 17 homes at a vacant site in Airdrie. Stark’s Yard in Cairnhill is being developed by McKernan Homes, with the four-bedroomed detached houses to feature roof-mounted solar panels, electric vehicle charging points and windows designed to retain heat.

The development work has generated 30 jobs for local contractors – and the first residents are set to move in this summer with the whole development expected to be complete by the end of the year.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Stark’s Yard is the Cumbernauld company’s third development to be supported by Bank of Scotland, receiving a loan of £2.8 million from its clean growth finance initiative to provide discounted lending to help firms invest in sustainable projects.
