Concerns over police response surrounding death of MMA fighter Connor Hitchens

The family of a dad and prominent MMA fighter have raised questions over police actions before he was found dead, a pre-inquest review has heard.

Connor Hitchens, known for being a featherweight champion in the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship, died in Blackpool on May 16, 2024.

The review, which took place at Blackpool Town Hall today (Thursday January 9), revealed that police had responded to an incident featuring Connor shortly before 6am on the same morning.

Two hours later, Preston-born Connor, 27, was discovered unresponsive and was later pronounced dead Blackpool's Senior Coroner Alan Wilson said: "The family position, essentially, is in relation to the police response and the appropriateness of that with a view to doing what they could to preserve Connor's life.
