Commuters battle through snow on Scots roads as yellow warning comes into force

Scots commuters are battling through heavy snowfalls after parts of the country were blanketed this morning. The road between Glasgow and Fenwick in Ayrshire has been particularly affected with pictures showing mountains of snow on the road as transport bosses battle to clear it.

A yellow warning is in place for the white stuff in much of the west of Scotland with Met Office bosses warning 'frequent sleet, hail and snow showers may lead to some disruption to travel during Thursday night and Friday morning.' The body has also warned of a 'slight chance' of power cuts in the country.Gritters have taken to main roads in an effort to keep them clear for those travelling this Friday.A statement from Bear NE Trunk Roads this morning reads: "Wintry conditions are expected again across the network!
