Comcast NBCUniversal said it plans to give $10 million to support L.A. wildfire relief efforts. The outlay includes $2.5 million in funding as an inaugural corporate partner to the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles’ ReBUILD LA initiative.
Contributions will also be made to organizations working on the ground to provide short and long-term assistance including the American Red Cross, Entertainment Industry Foundation SoCal Fire Fund, Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles.
The donation follows a similar one by Disney announced last week. “Our hearts go out to all who have been impacted by these devastating fires, including many in our Comcast NBCUniversal family,” Comcast CEO Brian Roberts said in announcing the gift.
The L.A. area is entering its second week of upheaval related to the deadly set of fires, which have killed at least 24 people, forced tens of thousands of evacuations and destroyed thousands of buildings.
