Coltness community's hopes of centre takeover dashed by new housing site assessment

Get the stories that matter to you sent straight to your inbox with our daily newsletter.Plans for a new community hub in Wishaw appear to be dead within a matter of weeks.Earlier this month, we revealed that members of Coltness Community Council had hoped to take over the Edward Lawson Centre, which North Lanarkshire Council seem set to deem surplus to requirements with the land and building likely to be leased and sold off completely.However, this week the Wishaw Press has been handed a document stating the council are beginning the process of assessing the site for its residential development potential.Up to 30 homes could be built on the site and once feedback is received then the site will be presented to the Housing and Regeneration.
