When real-life couple Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall started penning their Aussie sitcom Colin From Accounts, they never dreamt they'd be rubbing shoulders with British TV royalty on the red carpet a year later. The pair play medical student Ashley and bar owner Gordon, who find themselves thrown together after Gordon, distracted by Ashley, accidentally runs over a dog.

Despite their differences, the unlikely duo adopt the injured pooch, named Colin, and a romance blossoms. The sitcom catapulted Harriet and Patrick into the limelight when it hit BBC iPlayer, winning over a host of UK fans including none other than The Crown's Queen Elizabeth II actress Imelda Staunton. "She came up to us on the Bafta red carpet and said, 'You don't know me but I'm Imelda Staunton and I love Colin! '" reveals Harriet, 35.

Patrick, 48, adds, "We said, 'We do know you, mate. We know you, Your Majesty!'" The couple, who tied the knot in 2021 and share a two year old daughter, confess they're still struggling to take in the show's success in the UK. "There's been no reaction quite like it," admits Harriet. "A bloke from the UK messaged me on Instagram saying, 'Colin got me through some tough times my son has a rare genetic condition and spent a lot of time in hospital, so I'm grateful to Colin.'" "I told him the release date in the UK so he was the only guy to know for a while because I thought, 'b****r it'.

We're making a difference there, which is cool." The second series follows Ashley and Gordon as they attempt to get Colin back after hastily giving him away to another family. "It starts two weeks after the end of series one," Harriet reveals.
