Coatbridge chemical leak leads to evacuation of residents as paramedics treat four

Residents of a Scots town have been evacuated after a chemical leak with four treated by paramedics. Several roads are closed around Northburn Industrial Estate after a chemical leak was reported on Cameron Street in Coatbridge.

Nearby residents have been evacuated 'as a precaution', reports Glasgow Live.Burnbank Street is closed at Coltswood Road, as is Cromlet Drive.

Police said there are no reports of injuries.The public is advised to avoid the area. In a statement shared to social media, a spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Police and emergency services are in attendance at a premises on Cameron Street, Coatbridge, following a report of a chemical leak."Burnbank Street at Coltswood Road, Cromlet Drive and Northburn Industrial Estate have been closed and local properties have been evacuated as a precaution.

There are no reported injuries."Members of the public are advised to avoid the area. Enquiries are ongoing."A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 12:37 hours today to assist the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service at an incident on Cameron Street in Coatbridge."We dispatched one ambulance and our special operations team to the scene.
