A warrant has been issued for the arrest of former Co-op Bank boss Paul Flowers. Mr Flowers, a former Methodist minister and Labour councillor, was previously charged with a £68,000 fraud by allegedly abusing his position.
The 73-year-old was due to appear before a judge at Manchester Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on Friday (March 1).
Judge Alan Conrad KC said the court had received an email from Mr Flowers which stated he was attending hospital. Mr Flowers, of Brattice Drive, Salford, was not legally represented at the hearing.
