Clyde pay tribute to legendary Craig Brown as club heroes turn out to remember former Scotland, Motherwell and Aberdeen boss

Clyde honoured their legendary former manager Craig Brown over the weekend with a ‘Tribute Day’ in his memory.The Bully Wee were saddened to learn of Brown’s passing in June at the age of 82, following a short illness.And the club have been hard at work ever since to bring together a fitting tribute to recognise his contribution to Clyde during his life.Brown, who spent part of his childhood in Rutherglen and attended school in Hamilton, will forever be remembered by Clyde fans for bringing trophy success to the Bully Wee in the late 1970s and early 1980s.He took charge of the Bully Wee in 1977 and led the club to the Second Division title in his first season, before repeating that feat 1981/82.He was boss for 409 games at the club until he left in 1986 to take up a coaching role with Sir Alex Ferguson’s Scotland squad at the World Cup finals in Mexico that year.Brown would go on to assist Andy Roxburgh and then take the reins of the national side himself, leading Scotland to Euro 96 in England and the 1998 World Cup in France.

He also managed Motherwell, Aberdeen and Preston North End.On Saturday, Clyde legends and Craig’s sons, Hugh and John, remembered his life at a ceremony held in New Douglas Park in Hamilton, where Clyde currently play their home games.A special hospitality day was also run, which proved very popular with the fans and completely sold out.Craig’s sons Hugh and John were there and several players who were part of Craig’s 1977/78 and 1981/82 Second Division championship winning teams came along too, including Neil Hood, Pat Nevin, John Brogan, Brian Ahern, Tom O’Neill, Robert Reilly, Andy Willock and Ross Mathie, who was assistant manager when Brown was at the helm.They all entertained the guests with
