Clyde have sacked manager Danny Lennon a week after placing him on paid authorised absence. The League One club tonight issued a statement saying they had come to an agreement with the former St Mirren boss, and that his five-year tenure had ended immediately.Chairman Gordon Thomson said it was the "end of a chapter" from a boss that had earned the club promotion to 2019 and kept them there since.

Lennon himself said it had been an honour to be manager of Clyde. However, after a run of nine successive league defeats left them second-bottom of the table, Clyde placed Lennon on paid authorised absence on October 25, and that unenviable record stretched to 10 as they lost 2-1 at Alloa Athletic on Saturday, under the stewardship of interim boss Allan Moore, who was Lennon's assistant.Clyde issued a message on social media last night at 8.49pm, alongside the statement. The statement read: "The club can confirm that, following further reflection and discussion, we have agreed with Danny Lennon that his time as Clyde manager will come to an end with immediate effect."Danny's tenure at Clyde began in November 2017 when the club was in League Two, and his experience stabilised the team at that time."Whilst at the club, he has guided us through many challenges with dedication and professionalism, and of course the highlight on the pitch was securing promotion in 2019."Chairman Gordon Thomson then said: "Today marks the end of a chapter and it is a sad day."Results have belied many performances this season and I appreciate how hard Danny has worked to change that."However, there are times when football doesn't work out the way we want or expect, and it was felt that after five years a change was required."I would like to thank Danny
