Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman, 50, is a self-confessed fake tan obsessive - and she admits that only the most vibrant shade of tangerine is enough to meet her aesthetic requirements.
Yet the lengths to which she goes to maintain her shade have driven her husband crazy. In a new interview, Claudia confessed that, besides Bisto gravy and mud, she has even re-used old tea bags to achieve the right hue on her skin.
However, she then leaves them in the sink, much to her husband's annoyance. The Strictly host said the bizarre beauty hack originated in her university days, when money was scarce, and she had to improvise."Everything was reused, and I mean everything," she admitted in a candid interview with Emma Barnett on Radio Four's Women's Hour. One of her friends at Cambridge University, where Claudia studied History of Art, was scrimping and saving on a student budget, and came up with the idea of storing the used teabags in ramekins (porcelain dishes) to tan with later.
Asked by an incredulous Emma whether she'd really done it, she replied: "Of course I have, and Bisto! Listen, needs must."She added that her husband Kris is driven "mad" by her penchant for leaving the teabags in the sink afterwards, although she didn't mention how he feels about her smearing on Bisto gravy granules.
