Ciara Joins the Cast of 'The Color Purple' Movie Musical
justjared.comCiara is taking on a new role. According to EW, the “Level Up” performer has joined the cast of Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey‘s film adaptation of The Color Purple. Click inside to find out more about her role… Ciara will play the adult version of Nettie.
It was announced back in February that Halle Bailey would portray the younger version of the character. Production on the film is set to begin this month in Georgia.
Based on Alice Walker‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning 1982 novel, the movie stars American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino as Celie, following her life in the South during the early 1900s.
The cast also includes include Danielle Brooks as Sofia, Taraji P. Henson as Shug Avery, Colman Domingo as Mister, Corey Hawkins as Harpo, H.E.R. as Squeak, Louis Gossett Jr. as Ol’ Mister, and David Alan Grier as Reverend Avery.
