Senior United sources say they are preparing contracts for Eriksen to sign. Eriksen, 30, is a free agent after spending three months with Brentford following his recovery from a cardiac arrest while playing for Denmark during the European Championship.
Former United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer approached Eriksen about the possibility of signing for the club three years ago but Eriksen preferred to join Inter Milan.
