Chris Sutton had Kris Boyd bristling as he started the countdown on Rangers league title record being equaled. The Celtic hero was in mischievous mood as Boyd issued an impassioned demand for the Ibrox club to get back to what he insists it was built on – winning league titles.
That won't be happening this year barring the most unlikely collapse, with Brendan Rodgers' team needing just a point at Kilmarnock to get the title party started. They are at least having to finish the job themselves after Rangers came from two goals down to beat Dundee 5-2 at Ibrox.
But Boyd has warned that continually finishing second best to Celtic cannot continue at a club where successive league crowns were the norm, but now the Ibrox faithful have seen their heroes crowned champions just once in the last 13 years.
And their much heralded record of 55 titles is now under serious threat.Celtic will make it 54 with a draw at Rugby Park, setting up a record-equalling year ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
