Chris Packham's stepdaughter Megan McCubbin defended after 'horrible' Twitter backlash

Presenter Megan McCubbin appeared on the finale of BBC’s Winterwatch three weeks ago only to be bombarded by angry tweets from people who had a problem with some of her pronunciations.

Fans subsequently jumped to her defence, pointing out the nature lover struggles with dyslexia. Megan, 26, is the stepdaughter of Chris Packham CBE, a famous naturalist best known for his television work, including the CBBC children's nature series The Really Wild Show from 1986 to 1995.Chris, 60, has also presented the BBC nature series Springwatch, including Autumnwatch and Winterwatch, since 2009.The presenter clearly became a source of inspiration for his stepdaughter, who has since followed in his footsteps, recently joining him on the latest series of Winterwatch.

On January 28, Megan presented the final instalment of Winterwatch 2022, only to be blasted by some viewers over the way she pronounced certain Irish locations.

The conservationist and zoologist made the errors as she was discussing how certain birds fly around Ireland. One location that Megan mispronounced was Donegal, with some viewers insisting that the presenter was incorrectly pronouncing it “Don-Eagle”.
