Chris Hemsworth has opened up on the moment he and his fellow Marvel co-stars learned of pal Jeremy Renner’s near-fatal snow plough accident earlier this year.
The 52-year-old survived being crushed by a 14,000-pound snow plough on New Year’s Day, which left him with more than 30 broken bones, and has documented his recovery on social media in light of the freak accident.
Reflecting on Renner’s accident, the Aussie actor revealed that he nor the rest of the Avengers cast realised how “serious” the situation was as they learned of the news in a Marvel group chat.
Speaking to British GQ, the actor said: “We were all on our Avengers text chain, we were all chatting. And it was wild. “None of us really knew how serious it was, I think anything like that, it’s an immediate realisation of ‘Wow, any of us can go at any minute…’”At the time, Hemsworth along with several of their Avengers co-stars publicly shared their support for Renner after he was airlifted to hospital suffering from “blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries”.
