Primary children brave blisteringly cold temperatures of -51C to get to their classes in this remarkable footage. The school kids faces snow and chilling winds in the village of Oymyakon, Siberia, which claims to be the coldest permanently inhabited settlement on the planet.

The school is only closed for pupils aged 11 or under if the temperature is -52C or lower, so it was business as usual despite the unbelievable -51C freeze.

Older pupils must be on time for 6am classes unless the temperature hits -56C. By comparison the coldest temperature ever recorded in the UK is -27.2C.

Even a part of the world as remote as this hasn't escaped the coronavirus pandemic though, as parents and pupils had their temperatures checked at the door.
