Cheryl’s fans were left devastated last night, Sunday 20 March, to learn that she wasn’t taking part in her usual 2:22 A Ghost Story performance. The singer has been starring in the hit West End play since January, but took the night off yesterday – the same day as Mother’s Day.
Cheryl’s night off also comes a couple of days before son Bear's birthday on 22 March. Gemma Yates is believed to have filled the Girls Aloud star’s spot for the performance, which appears to have been advertised on A Ghost Story’s website for some time.
The announcement on its ‘Booking Info’ page reads: “Please note that Cheryl will not be performing on Sunday 19th March”. In the wake of her absence, disappointed theatre-goers took to Twitter.
One person penned: “So went to see @222aghoststory today and found out @cherylofficial was off! "But fair play to Gemma Yates -Round you did amazing!" Another said: "I specifically avoided this week as it's Mother's Day and Bear's birthday, didn't want to risk it!" While Cheryl wasn’t there, another person who attended last night’s performance labelled the cast as “fantastic”.They wrote: “Finally got to see #222AGhostStory #222 all the way through & it’s just as amazing as the 1st experience.
