Chelsea scout Piet de Visser has admitted that the Londoners were interested in signing Brazilian international Antony long before he sealed his recent move to Manchester United.
After being linked with a move to Old Trafford for much of the summer, Antony, who marked his United debut with a goal against Arsenal just over a week ago, completed a deadline day switch to M16 at the start of this month.
He joined United in an £85.1million deal. United manager Erik ten Hag had worked closely with Antony at Ajax following the latter's arrival at the Johan Cruyff Arena in 2020.
The winger developed at a rapid rate of knots under the Dutchman and, eventually, was determined to be reunited with him at Old Trafford towards the end of the transfer window.
