The young midfielder made his full Premier League debut this afternoon and Frank Lampard’s decision to start him again was vindicated.
Gilmour, 18, was deployed in the middle of the park alongside Ross Barkley and Mason Mount. And he certainly did not look out of place or get overawed by the occasion.
Gilmour had the responsibility of being Chelsea’s holding midfielder against Carlo Ancelotti’s side with the Blues suffering in the injury department.
