Chelsea are growing more confident that they can pull off a deal for Manchester United's Angel Gomes. The playmaker will be out of contract at the end of June and will be able to leave the Red Devils for nothing.

Negotiations have stretched on for over a year but no leeway has been made. He rejected a proposal put forward by United in January that would have seen his £17,000-a-week wages boosted to £20,000.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to stop the 19-year-old from leaving the club and moving to Chelsea. But the Blues are confident that they will snap up the teenager for nothing in the summer.

It comes after Gomes hired super-agent Pini Zahavi to arrange his coming future, a man that has close ties to Stamford Bridge.
