'Cheeky chappie' schoolboy died from 'multiple fatal injuries' following horror crash

A schoolboy who died following a horror crash suffered "multiple fatal injuries" before his death.Kaylan Hippsley, 13, passed away following the incident on February 29 and an inquest into his death has since been opened and adjourned.

Emergency services were called following the collision - which involved a brown Ford Fiesta and a pedestrian - on Brecon Road in Hirwaun, Wales.Harley Whiteman, 19, appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, March 2 charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

As reported by Wales Online, the road was closed for several hours as police carried out investigations at the scene after the crash, which happened at around 6.25pm.On Monday, an inquest opening at Pontypridd Coroners' Court heard Kaylan walking across the road and was hit by a Ford Fiesta which failed to stop.

The victim was taken to hospital having sustained "multiple fatal injuries" and died on March 3.A post mortem examination was carried out and gave a provisional cause of death as 1a left sided subdural haematoma and hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy following traumatic cardiac arrest, and 1b blunt head injury.
