'Queen of CBeebies' Kay Benbow dies aged 63 as heartfelt tributes pour in

CBeebies icon Kay Benbow has passed away aged just 63.Paying tribute, former BBC colleague Stuart Rowson said: “Kay was a legendary leader of CBeebies and affectionately known as the Queen of Beebies by some of those still within BBC Children's, several years after her departure."Kay, who worked for the Beeb for 30 years, held the position of CBeebies controller between 2010 and 2017.

During her career with the broadcaster, they won the BAFTA Children’s Channel of the Year five times. Tributes for the 'Queen of Beebies' have poured in from her broadcasting colleagues following the news of her death, the Mirror reports.A statement from the BBC said: "Everyone in the BBC Children's & Education department is incredibly sad to hear the news that Kay Benbow has passed away.
