Charter CEO’s 2024 Pay Package Falls Without Option Awards That Inflated Year-Earlier Compensation
deadline.comCharter Communications CEO Christopher Winfrey saw his total compensation package fall dramatically in 2024 from the year before, when he was granted option and stock awards valued at about $83 million.
For 2024, according to the company’s proxy statement filed Thursday with the SEC, Winfrey saw a base salary of $1.7 million; non-equity incentive plan compensation (like a cash bonus) of $3.75 million; and other compensation (mostly personal use of a corporate airplane) of $296,500, for a total of $5.75 million versus $89.1 million in 2023.
Winfrey was promoted from COO to CEO in December 2022, succeeding Tom Rutledge. The grants in 2023 were part of a long-term performance equity program.
Proxies, which will be rolling out for publicly traded companies this month and next, list the salaries of a company’s top five highest-paid executives.
