Charter Communications CEO Christopher Winfrey saw his total compensation package fall dramatically in 2024 from the year before, when he was granted option and stock awards valued at about $83 million.
For 2024, according to the company’s proxy statement filed Thursday with the SEC, Winfrey saw a base salary of $1.7 million; non-equity incentive plan compensation (like a cash bonus) of $3.75 million; and other compensation (mostly personal use of a corporate airplane) of $296,500, for a total of $5.75 million versus $89.1 million in 2023.
Winfrey was promoted from COO to CEO in December 2022, succeeding Tom Rutledge. The grants in 2023 were part of a long-term performance equity program.
Proxies, which will be rolling out for publicly traded companies this month and next, list the salaries of a company’s top five highest-paid executives.
