The mother of Charlie Gard felt a "surge of pure love" as she held his "miracle" baby brother for the first time. Proud parents Connie Yates, 34, and Chris Gard, 36, immediately fell in love with their baby son, born one day after Charlie would have turned four.
Pictures show Miss Yates holding baby Gard for the first time, cuddling him into her chest in a white towel. Their little bundle of joy, not yet named, was born after a successful caesarean on Wednesday night weighing 8lb 6oz on Wednesday night.
His parents gushed over the "uncanny" resemblance to his big brother Charlie. They wept with joy and said he was the "spitting image" of Charlie, who died or a rare genetic condition shortly before his first birthday in 2017.
