Charles, Prince of Wales (Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 November 1948) is the heir apparent to the British throne as the eldest son of Elizabeth II. He has been Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay since 1952, and he is the oldest and longest-serving heir apparent in British history.
He is also the longest-serving Prince of Wales, having held that title since 1958. Charles was born at Buckingham Palace as the first grandchild of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. He was educated at Cheam and Gordonstoun schools, which his father, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, had attended as a child. Charles also spent a year at the Timbertop campus of Geelong Grammar School in Victoria, Australia.
Prince Charles, Camilla and Prince William are travelling to be with the Queen after it was announced on Thursday that she has been put under medical supervision.The Prince of Wales, 73, and Duchess of Cornwall, 75, have travelled to Balmoral to be with the Queen, Clarence House said.They were staying nearby at Birkhall on the estate.
While the Duke of Cambridge, 40, is also travelling to Balmoral after today's announcement on the Queen’s health, Kensington Palace said.
Earlier on Thursday, it was announced that the Queen, 96, is under medical supervision at Balmoral after doctors became "concerned for her health".
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: "Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision." They added: "The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral." The Queen’s immediate family members have been informed, with the latest announcement escalating fears for the monarch’s health.
