Channing Tatum has been cast in a new spy thriller after starring earlier this year in the adventure comedy The Lost City that was a hit at the box office.The 42-year-old actor will star in the spy film Red Shirt based on an original pitch from Simon Kinberg with David Leitch directing, according to an article on Thursday by Deadline.Tatum also will be serving as a producer through his production company Free Association, while Leitch and Kelly McCormick will be producing under their 87 North production company and Kinberg producing through his Genre Films company.

He also was a co-director, co-producer and star of the comedy road drama Dog that has earned about $85 million worldwide since its release in February.Tatum previously co-produced and starred in the 2012 comedy-drama Magic Mike that was loosely based on his experiences as an 18-year-old male stripper in Tampa, Florida.
