Chance The Rapper is putting blackness in the spotlight during his appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

During the Monday night (April 11) show, the 28-year-old musician opened up about the origins of his new song, “Child of God”, which is the title track from his upcoming album. Click inside to read more… Chance shared that he connected with Ghanian-American artist Moses Sumney and Naïla Opiangah to work on the track and even put a spotlight on Naila‘s artwork for the performance on the show. “The piece itself is an embodiment of Blackness.

It’s a lot of black bodies in the piece, and not only is it a multitude of them, but they’re all women,” Chance explained. “The fact that we exist, that we survive in the world that we live in is a testament to the fact that we are the children of god.” Check out Chance‘s interview and performance below!
