South of Scotland League champs Abbey Vale are shaping up well for the new season. They followed up a narrow 2-1 friendly loss to Annan Athletic with a thumping 11-0 win over Hole I’ The Wa on Thursday night.
An early Robbie Ferguson double gave them the lead, Sam Jess and Sam Hughes also getting in on the act before an own goal took Vale’s tally to five by the break.
There was no let-up in the second half with Lewis McKenna scoring either side of a goal from Liam Patterson. Craig Kerr made it nine before Hughes bagged a brace to complete his own hat-trick.
