Many thought the stage was set for an emotional tribute to Chadwick Boseman when it was announced that this year's Oscars ceremony would be finishing with the Best Actor award.
The actor tragically passed away last year aged 43 after a battle with colon cancer and was tipped to win a posthumous award for his role in drama Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.
But in a shocking turn of events he lost out to Sir Anthony Hopkins who won the award for his turn in The Father. It led to an outcry on social media saying the Black Panther actor had been "snubbed".
However, his family have told TMZ this simply isn't true. Instead, they have lavished praise on 83-year-old Anthony for his win.
