A sale of soccer memorabilia belonging to the late Celtic legend Stevie Chalmers raised more than £56,000. But there was disappointment when two star items failed to sell.
Bidding for Stevie’s cup-winning meda l from Lisbon reached £120,000 at one point but did not meet the Chalmers’ family’s reserve price.
His medal from the victory is part of a collection with an estimate by McTear's Auctioneers of £150,000-£250,000.A jersey belonging to Brazil icon Pele was also withdrawn after the top bid of £38,000 came up short of the £50,000 to £100,000 asking price.Celtic fan John Buckley spent thousands of pounds buying up a range of Chalmers’ boots, jerseys and pennants on behalf of the podcast Celtic State of Mind.
