Mr McCafferty had earlier gone to Celtic Park to antagonise glum Hoops fans following their derby defeat at Ibrox.Hay tried to confront Mr McCafferty before getting into a car and followed him home.
It is there Hay tried to strike Mr McCafferty who was also armed with a baseball bat.Hay then fled the scene in Mr McCafferty's unattended car which had the engine running.
Hay pled guilty on Monday at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting Mr McCafferty and stealing his car.He also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.The court heard Mr McCafferty was driving home after the Rangers and Celtic match with the hosts won 1-0.
