Changes to the Champions Leaue format are not going down well with broadcasters across Europe as Celtic and Rangers watch on closely. The Glasgow giants were back in the elite European group stage this season but both failed to win any of their six games and tumbled out at the first hurdle.

They'll be keen for another crack next season though but their emergence into the competition comes at a time when evolutionary plans are being made by UEFA.The 2024/25 edition of the Champions League will follow a new format, departing the current 32-team group stage model.

It will be a single league made up of all 36 competing clubs, giving four more sides the opportunity to compete. Teams will play four matches more than is currently the case and they won't play three opponents home and away, instead taking on 10 different teams, five at home and five away. But the Daily Mail claim it's not gone down well in the TV market.

DAZN and Amazon have retained their German rights for live matches but have bid less than they are paying for their current three-year deal.
