Maeve and her eight-year-old son, Gideon, were reported missing last week when they went out into the turbulent waters of Chesapeake Bay, Maryland, to retrieve a ball on a canoe.
The pair ran into trouble paddling back to shore in the choppy waters due to strong winds, leading to their accidental drowning, a spokesperson for the state’s chief medical officer has confirmed.
