Former Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley has been slammed by an ITV co-star after she denied claims she asked a bakery to supply her with some free cakes.As we reported yesterday, the Eva Price actress was accused of requesting 100 cakes 'for free' in exchange for social media exposure.
Now her ex colleague Nicola Thorp (who plays Nicola Rubinstein) has hit out at the furore and said Catherine had a "moral duty" to make sure all those involved were paid.Nicola, who worked alongside Catherine during their time on the Cobbles, largely defended her former co-worker.
She then added that Catherine's subsequent video addressing the scandal in which she said she hopes "the cake lady got the exposure she was craving" was "not well-advised".
On TalkTV, Nicola said: "I feel sorry first and foremost for the cake woman. She’s brilliant. What she said is so clever. She was like, ‘I can’t pay my staff with heart emojis on Instagram’.
