Cat abandoned in Manchester flat for nine days at Christmas

A cat has been given a new loving home after being abandoned for nine days last Christmas. Freya was left starving last year when her and fellow cat Minnie were left in a rubbish-filled property in Greater Manchester.

Thanks to the RSPCA, she has now been fostered by a couple in Warrington, Cheshire, with Minnie also going on to find her 'forever home'.

This comes as the RSPCA has revealed that last Christmas there was a 23% increase of animals left home alone over the festive period.

Helen Howlett, Freya's new foster mum from Warrington, said: “Freya is now so loving and affectionate. "She has brought so much joy to our lives, she is loving and hilarious and amazing company.
