However, he was heartbroken to discover that his furry friend had cancer, leading to a tragic turn of events in Saturday's episode.The latest instalment of the BBC drama began with Dylan at the vet's office with Dervla, explaining her lethargy, lack of appetite, and toilet troubles.The vet informed him that Dervla was seriously ill as her cancer had spread, suggesting they cease treatment and make her as comfortable as possible.

Despite this, Dylan insisted on further tests and explored every possible avenue to save his dog.Throughout the episode, his concern for Dervla seemed to consume him, causing him to overlook an assault on one of his patients.

During a staff meeting, Dylan received a call from the vets informing him that there was nothing more they could do and that Dervla would need to be put down.
